My FIL was sent from the hospital to a care home to have the assessment done. It took longer than 4 weeks and his condition deteriorated. He was there for 10 months and died there.
They were very good to him there but he had severe dementia at the end.

    Update,
The LA are funding him and classed as short term care, so he has to pay towards it.

    Does this look correct?

    A few things I've thought.
The charging  starts from the day he left hospital,  is there a 6 week run on before charging should start?
Is in correct they are sharing costs with his wife 50/50  when she gets much less pension than him £157.75 to his £257.36.
With fuel it only states gas, should there also be electric? With the gas, the current quarterly bill is about £2,000  can they submit new bill for gas?
Is there anything that is missing that can be deducted?

    Thanks for any help.

I would be querying why the first six weeks aren’t free.

I think 50-50 is generally the starting point for married couples with regards to income and savings.
age UK do have a helpline if there’s anything you want to check.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

    Thanks,
So it seems they have charged him for short term care for 15 days. But I might be confused it looks like the calculation is for a temporary resident,
Also if it was short-term,  then should there even be a bill as came directly from hospital?

I will, going to quote The Care and Support (Preventing Needs for Care and Support) Regulations 2014 section 4b

Having gone thought it a bit today, I found a couple of things that  I feel need adjusting in the Essential Expenditure
Under fuel, there is no electric, so that needs to be taken into account
The weekly gas amount is £30.12  so  £391.56 a quarter but the current bill is for £2000 for this quarter  so about £154 a week.

Also like advice on this point.
If the bills are solely in his name (so he is legally responsible)  do they have to count as 100% to him,  and if the bill is in joint names then it's 50% split.

Anyone know if it mattes who is legally responsible for the bill?

I have found out they only used bank statements for calculations (joint bank account) so have divided everything 50/50
As above question, if car insurance (currently calculated at 50%) is in his name can it be a 100% deduction?
