How do I stop my car alarm from going off?

Hi folks, not a money saving question as such, but can anyone advise how I can stop my car alarm going off? It's a Volkswagen and I have one of those key fobs where you double-tap a button to unlock the doors. I suspect the battery has gone in the fob, as earlier it wouldn't work.

I therefore used the key to gain entry but it triggered the alarm. I have since parked the vehicle and used a second key fob (with a functioning battery) to unlock and lock the car. However the alarm still keeps going off every few minutes. The only way to stop the alarm sounding is to leave the car doors unlocked. Any suggestions?

The first thing I would do is replace the batteries in both fobs.

OK thanks KP, I will give that a go. Found a video from a guy called 'Key Fob Rob' which explains the process. Looks simple enough

Places like Timpsons have replaced the fob batteries for me in the past.

Some cars can be locked using the key, rather than the remote, to lock the doors without setting the alarm.

Just to provide an update in case anyone encounters similar, this was thankfully an easy fix. I simply replaced the battery in the faulty fob following instructions in the above video and all sorted.
