DVD drive noisy

hello, my dvd rom drive runs very fast when playing certain dvds this means it is very noisy and distracting. is there any way i can slow it down or get it to run at the lowest possible speed automatically.
I have a had a look in the settings but i am getting nowhere fast. (unlike the dvd)

do the DVDs have any stickers attached to them making them imbalanced as they are spinning?0

No, just plain black plastic.
I can watch certain dvds no problem but others make the dvd run fast or it will run fast to start then slow down but speed up again at regular intervals.
