I don’t see any advantage in using smart TRV’s , and agree with @Bendo that paying for hive plus is a total waste of money
Not using Hive Plus as I have Home Assistant running for the smart home side of it and can as far as I can see do everything Hive Plus does there.
Your best option there is something like Influxdb and then using Grafana to chart the data. Not having Hive, I don't know what the Home Assistant integration exports as sensors. But as long as the data appears on screen, it can be saved in a database. Just don't use an SD card for any database - I was killing cards in under three months. Also hitting problems when Influx has three years or more of data stashed due to the size of the file (restart timeouts need to be increased within the systemd service).Still exploring the range of options with Grafana although it isn't entirely necessary - The builtin history graphs that HA generate can be just as useful. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
There is a more serious aspect to this. By applying the free month of Hive plus without consent the functionality of the existing service is diminished. I use real time monitoring to ensure my static caravan boiler is kicking in when required during current cold weather. Hive plus delays that by several hours saying its not available during the "learning period". I cancelled but this issue will remain until the one month trial period is over. I would question the legality of this unilateral action.0

I have hive controlling a 2 zone central heating system and hot water and am quite happy with it and they've been pushing plus at me for a while. As plus doesn't add any extra hardware it's simply enabling some analysis / software enhancements to the data and hardware you already have.
I also think the statistics are about as useful as home energy monitors. "You were 22% up down on your heating use last week and your setpoint target time is 14% lower"... Well, it was colder last week, what do you want me to do? Sit in an uncomfortably cold house in order to improve my statistics?• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
