....not least because their remit as the Food Standards Agency is, er, food standards!

Unlikely that the Financial Conduct Authority would be interested either tbh, but OP does have the option of escalating a complaint to FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service) if Barclays haven't dealt with it adequately.

Whether they’re legitimate or not Barclays is known not to like deposits from certain sources e.g., those related to crypto.
