Apologies if this sounds dim, but my logic fails me (mainly because companies tend to call you out on anything you've not thought about).
I used to be with HSBC up to around a year or two ago and left due to poor customer service. They say you can switch for their cash reward if you've not opened an HSBC account since 1st January 2020, well had that old HSBC account from way before 2020 but it was open up to after 2020. DO I qualify?

The terms state
"You may hold an HSBC account and still qualify for the offer, as long as the current account was opened before 1 January 2020. We reserve the right to refuse your application and withdraw this offer at anytime. Credit is subject to status and an assessment of your financial circumstances"
I interpret that as yes you still qualify0 -
The account closure date and even whether or not you still have the HSBC current account is an irrelevance in this case. It's the account opening date that matters so you would qualify.
Even then they haven't always enforced this term in practice, I opened a HSBC account in 2021, switched it out and opened another account in 2022 yet FD gave me the £175 in 2023.0
