I was in Asda yesterday and a young woman in front of me at the till paid for £50 of her shopping in 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p and a few £ coins.
I'm impressed that she wasn't afraid to get the wrath of the cashier and the customers behind her in the queue!
I was too busy thinking "she has to be an MSE" to even feel impatient as the cashier counted out all the change lol!

They have coin machine in a sainsburys near me. You just put in all the coins and it gives you a slip which you can use to pay for your shopping or you can get cash instead but they charge you a small percentage for this it think.
Brilliant little machine!0 -

Brilliant little machine!
The small percentage was about 8% IIRC. It would take over a year in a bank account to make that much.
Best tip I've seen is to use those self-service scan-and-pack-your-own machines and dump all your loose change into it. It's not going to pull a face at you..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Yeah, it what I thought: the girl's got guts! I love your story, not sure I would have had the guts either lol!
In Search of Me, it was Asda Benton in Newcastle but I don't expect the person to own up even if she is an MSE lol! Usually I hate that Asda as both shoppers and staff are rather unfriendly and rude. I think the Christmas spirit finally got to everybody!LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

I went into my local CostCutter recently with £10's worth of 5 and 10p's to buy electric (I sat outside till I could see the shop was empty
), I apologised to the guy behind the counter and he said that it was just what he needed and to bring any change to him, he then gave me 10 plastic money bags to count it up in!! DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

i know if you take money to local shops they quite like it as they have to pay the banks to get change to use ...so jo you probably saved him money ...you got rid of your dross at the same time ...mututal benefit ...nice one..well done0
