  • Once agin not much to report this week other than I’ve today changed the amount I pay on CC2 and CC5 through their apps. CC4 is annoying as I can’t do it through the app and rn I’m taking a brief break from housework and can’t be doing with going upstairs to the laptop to sort it through online banking. So I’ll do that at some point later this week.
  • An early update! The transfer from CC2 to CC5 didn't get applied as I expected: I had £735 on 0% deal that will run out in a couple of months. I expected the £735 I transferred to CC5 to be applied to that £735 part of the balance as the remainder was on a longer term that doesn't expire until next year. However, it was applied the other way round [insert rolling eyes emoji here].

So I've transferred the rest of the balance from CC2 to CC5 – I had the headroom – and will deal with it as a block closing CC2 once it's processed.

I've also just switched my energy tariff from £220 pcm to £160.69 pcm. So that gives me another £60 to play with.
  • I realised this morning that it's just over 6 months since I started this diary. While it is halfway through the calendar year, I'm very much not halfway through my debt free journey. This didn't stop me from getting a bit reflective, though.

The £2,335 that I've already cleared in that time is such a huge chunk of what I owed at the beginning of the year – over a quarter of my original total. By the end of the year, I should be at a total of £9,179.87, which I feel will be psychologically important being less than £10k.

However... the amount I will have paid off is less than 30% of the original total by about £310. I can't help but feel a stretch goal is in order if I can scrape together that additional cash. An extra £60 per month isn't nothing, although it is the amount that I'm saving on my energy costs so maybe the answer is lying there right in front of me.
