Me and my partner recently moved into a new home. We're currently on E7 meter & tariff with Eon.
However we have an immersion heater for water and panel heaters as heating so not sure why it's and E7. The meter is saying last month we used 734kWh of electric at £268.62 and eon don't seem interested in helping us
We used to be with British gas on E7 with storage heaters electric use to be £60pm in summer and £120pm in winter with an annual of £4850.75 kWh.
We budgeted for £180pm just incase but as you can imagine we're in complete disbelief it's over that. We're in a 2 bedroom house and there is just me and my partner. We don't use to hot water because the immersion causes the electric to hike. I shower everyday whilst my partner is every other day. We don't have the heaters on as we can't afford too. We have all the same appliances with us.

Meter when we moved in was 07609 that was 25th November. It's now at 08667.frugalmacdugal said:Hi,do you have any actual meter readings, and dates, not estimates?1 -
You mention E7, that is likely just one rate, what about the other rate and do you know which is day and which is night?ichigomoon said:

If it is E7 you should either have two meters or one meter with two indexes. Did you give meter readings the day you moved in? They could be billing for the previous owner/tenant, if not.0

Do you not use the heating at all?including water heating id expect around 300kWh a month With heating it would be a lot morePanel heaters would cost a lot more as you wouldn't be able to use E7 rates anyway, as they would predominantly be used during the daytime, they don't store cheap E7 heat overnight.
Are you actually on an E7 tariff? You may not be if you've just moved in
Is a smart meter fitted?0 -
Panel heaters plus E7 is possibly the worst possible space heating option, from a cost point-of-view, short of burning fivers in an open fire.ichigomoon said:Me and my partner recently moved into a new home. We're currently on E7 meter & tariff with Eon.

It's quite easy to use 734kWh of electricity in a month. A "typical household" might use 1000kWh or more during a winter month, just for heat.ichigomoon said:The meter is saying last month we used 734kWh of electric at £268.62 and eon don't seem interested in helping us
In your previous home, you had storage heaters and were probably paying 15p/kWh for heat. Now you've got panel heaters and are paying 30p/kWh or more on an E7 tariff. That's doubled your heating costs.ichigomoon said:We budgeted for £180pm just incase but as you can imagine we're in complete disbelief it's over that. At least heat your water on E7.
