MCOL claim received and acknowledged, Am I too late to file a defence?

Hi,
In short - claim has an issue date of 06.12.23. The claim was acknowledged on 18.12.23.
Claimant is BW Legal / NCP
Brief summary of circumstances:
On 23.12.22, I parked in an NCP car park that I use regularly when visiting the town centre. The car park is one that allows you to pay online after the fact. I attempted to pay a number of times, but the system wouldn't process the £2.70 payment. I emailed NCP advising them of the circumstances, and heard nothing back. Until around February/March time 2023 when I had a letter from a debt collector associated with BW Legal (exact name escapes me for the moment). I replied to the letter via email asking them to refer it back to NCP as I was still waiting for a response to my original email. This has steadily escalated to further aggressive letters from BW Legal. I have emailed BW Legal several times and have had zero response. Then the claim notification arrived and here we are.
So, a couple of questions.
1. When do I have until I have to submit a defence on MCOL? This doesn't appear very clear from the MCOL website.
2. If I complete the defence statement on MCOL - is this then set in stone or while I have further opportunities to add to or amend it?
3. My defence is quite simple in that I tried to pay, the process failed repeatedly, I notified NCP, the matter escalated, no notice was paid to my emails to BW Legal, etc etc. Any guidance on enhancing the defence?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Use the Template Defence to enhance the defence but remove the bottom third of it so it fits into the defence box on MCOL.
Do it in MCOL as your deadline was yesterday. Don't email it. Better to get it immediately in on MCOL when late.
Do it NOW. Don't ask what to remove (no time but all the stuff at the bottom about costs can wait) but you also do not need to copy the headings because MCOL does that for you.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Well with an email submission you are now reliant on someone in the CNBC dealing with your email in a timely manner.parkbench71 said:Coupon-mad said:

In your situation I would've persevered with the MCOL process. The whole point of suggesting that method is/was that there is no human element involved in the filing.
Check progress on your MCOL Claim History.1 -
You should persist in attempts to submit on MCOL. Try a different browser1

That was a bad idea but OK only if you got the auto response droning on about delays?parkbench71 said:Coupon-mad said:
