Hi guys, what it is i forgot to include the PEX number on the envelope will this cause significant delays? I sent it First Class Signed for on Friday with no receipt from the Passport Office as of yet but I've read they don't actually sign for it?
Any help appreciated, thanks!

Yes it will cause a problem as it has no application to be scanned on to. I suggest you phone customer services and explain what happened. You will get it contact reminders to send in your passport. Don't ignore the reminders as your application will eventually be withdrawn.
could even send a letter to the Document Handling Unit you sent your passport to explaining that they aready have your passport but there was no reference number on the envelope. They should be able to trace it as it will have been treated as an 'orphan' document.
Signed for mail is signed for in bulk - not individually.2 -
'Signed for' just means that the item has been received somewhere in the organisation. Many government departments use centralised sorting offices/post rooms and it will be there it is signed for. It doesn't mean the document is at its final destination.
