Fixes aren't there to save you money these days. They are now there to give certainty that the rate you are paying won't change should there be some world event that causes a huge increase in energy prices.
The energy companies usually price the fixed rates just above the SVT tariffs. It's a bit like paying a small insurance premium to save you from any potential future price shocks.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

If you want to save money, rather than have a period of certainty, then get a smart meter and find a TOU (time of use) tariff that suits your consumption pattern.BuddyMo46 said:Thanks for comparison calculator.
