Advice re On the beach

Hi all, and thanks in advance for any advice.
I have a holiday booked via onthebeach.com for June this year, and I am looking at changing the hotel.
I have found a hotel we like the look of, and it is showing as £4100 to book as a new booking, however when I go through their hotel change request it is showing as £5100.
The amendment fee is £80
It seems that it would be cheaper to cancel the hotel part of my booking, and then just book the hotel, however my question is... If I do cancel the hotel, do I still keep my flights?
Flights are showing as fully paid for on my booking.
Having a nightmare trying to speak to them direct so any advice e would be appreciated.

You may have more rights if the currently-booked hotel is now of a lower quality than when booked, as opposed to simply changing your mind?1 -
On The Beach don't have the greatest of reputations when it comes to helping with changes. If the whole thing was booked as a package they may say the whole thing has to be cancelled and a complete new booking made. The only way to find out is to speak to them.

I suspect that the flight component of the holiday you originally booked was more expensive than it is now. January is the best time to book for sales and promos usually so it's likely the flights are locked in at a previously higher price.0
