I’m debating whether to transfer my Vanguard SIPP to II, but not sure I could go through the pain.  I would transfer as cash though but worried about timescales out of market, anyone had a speedy transfer between the 2?
There are a number of threads bemoaning the speed of Vanguard with these situations, although I guess most go through OK in a couple of weeks. The advice is not to sell the investments to cash yourself in case there is a delay. Normally in a transfer the platform will sell the investments to cash quite late in the process.

Assuming you wish to continue with the same investments, why not just transfer in specie and then it doesn't matter how long it takes?

Is there something in the Topashback T&Cs that stops you getting cashback from them and II, do they normally stop you getting both?  If not, then its a really good deal, and will look at switching to them

I transferred an SJP pension through Origo into my existing II SIPP a few weeks ago and it only took a few days. My OH is transferring hers from the same provider into Vanguard and it's taken about 7 weeks so far and still not gone through! I had the same worry as you with "time out of the market" but escaped fairly lightly. Had it taken a few weeks with the investments already sold but not transferred it would have cost me dear! As I was advised though, it's time in the market not timing the market that matters generally.

Just realised you mean your wife’s pension, not your own. Ignore the message and good luck!

    Hi dharm,

My wife received both TC and the ii switch incentive in her summer switch.

    Best wishes.
  • Just an update for anyone interested:

7 Jan: opened II sipp and applied to transfer in old stakeholder pension from SL
8 Jan: email from Origo to say transfer in progress
10 Jan: letter from SL to say old pension had been stopped
17 Jan: email from Origo to say transfer complete and cash now showing in II sipp.

10 days all in - very happy!

Top Cashback tracked too, albeit showing at lower amount than it should at the moment. Will keep an eye on that and will hopefully be increased once transfer amount confirmed.
