Surely the fact that they are slashing prices undermines their claim of having everyday low prices.Rosa_Damascena said:The latest Aldi ad suggests prices have been slashed. Whether that is true or not I won't know until I step inside a store!0 -
There are inflationary fluctuations that cannot be managed - lets see what happens in the Middle East because that is bound to push up prices,pumpkin89 said:

But they can't have it both ways. Either the cost price has inflated so the selling price has to be raised, or they can afford to slash the prices which means they didn't need to go up in the first place.Rosa_Damascena said:There are inflationary fluctuations that cannot be managed - lets see what happens in the Middle East because that is bound to push up prices,
Don't get me wrong, every supermarket does this, but Aldi has always claimed to be different and it's becoming less distinguishable from the other chains.0 -
Well the wonderful 'prices slashed' in Aldi seems to be a penny here and a penny there- rather than 5 or 10 pence which is how the prices rose- not in tiny increments but in galloping leaps!
Still their prices are certainly cheaper than some supermarkets. I nearly fainted when I saw individual bananas priced at 27 pence, rather than 16 pence in Aldi!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Useful - just surprised they are using a .xls sheet. OTOH the number of price matches are never going to match the scale of Test & Trace casestastyhog said:They've now updated the price match to show all the price matched products on the page now

Asda is now winning out over Aldi for me. I did a £20 shop this evening and with my BLC and the star products got over £5 added into my cashpot.
