Instagram help

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I can't see 'My Stories' anywhere on Instagram. When I click the little airplane to share, I don't get an option to share to 'my story'. I can type my user name to share to, but I have a feeling that isn't to My Story.

Any suggestions? I'm using a laptop.

It might be the settings of the actual page rather than your settings. Does this happen on every page that you're trying to share from?

Thanks @AC55 yes, I've never seen any option to share to my story. What I've been doing is sharing to my user name, hoping that's the same thing. But I Googled it today and I don't think it is the same thing. I found where to find my stories. I'm supposed to have a circle around my profile picture to click, but I haven't got that. Nothing on my profile shows anything about my story.

I have never seen Share to my Stories on a PC/Laptop, only through the Instagram App on an iPad. Not sure if the Instagram App for PC would work, never managed to install it, always get an error.

You need the app for full features - stories are not a native feature on desktop/laptop although there are work arounds.

There are various ways to do it - google has many inc YouTube guides - cannot vouch for any of them

I've tried one of the workarounds - https://www.bluestacks.com/ 
It's aimed at people who want to play Android games on their PC. After you've downloaded BlueStacks you tell it you want to download or 'play' Instagram. You can then log into your IG account and when you're on a post you can share to your story - the airplane share icon gives you these options (as well as the individual accounts)


It works but it's very slow going! The BlueStack app is a bit clunky and slows down your PC while it's running. You certainly wouldn't want to use it for routine Instagram browsing.

I use the App on my Tablet all the time, an it works fine.  At the very top, small circles are shown - these are Stories from your 'friends' or people you follow.  And at the far left of these, will be one with your profile picture in, and it says "Your Story" with a '+' sign next to it, so you add your story there.  I use Insta all the time, but don't use any of these Story or Share  functions myself, as I don't want my feed filled up with crap.

Why not try out the App - you can always uninstall it if you don't like it!

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back about this. I've tried it on my iPad and it's the same. I can't find anything about 'stories' anywhere. The circle with my profile pic is just that. It doesn't show a frame or '+' sign. I haven't yet tried out the work arounds. I'm really rubbish at stuff like that. I'm more likely to give up than do that.

I am wondering if the problem is that I've had Instagram for so long, but hardly used it. It could be that I signed up before they created 'Stories'. So I might need to update, reinstall and or start from fresh, with a new account. Will take me a while to get around to trying that, but if/when I do, I will report back.

If you are accessing Instagram using a browser, it makes no difference if you are on a PC or an iPad or other mobile device, you will not see Share to Stories. (Unless you use one of the workarounds mentioned above).Only if you install the App on your iPad, you can then bring up the competition, click on the little Share arrow which is usually the right hand one as shown here: then you should get various options to Share, one of which is Add to Story similar to this:
