Barclaycard abroad

I used my Barclaycard freedom rewards and was charged a lot of fees about £20 total what did I do wrong

Use a card that does not give you free overseas use, so no exchange rate charges...Life in the slow lane0

There seem to be two different cards - Rewards and Freedom Rewards. For the latter I see:If you buy something with your card while your abroad, you’ll pay one single, non-sterling purchase fee of 2.99% every time you use it

It's only the Rewards card that is fee free when used as per terms and conditions.
