Returning a laptop that's not as described

Hi
I understand my rights to return an opened laptop are pretty small, but what about the scenario where the spec of the laptop isn't as it was sold?
In my case I bought a laptop from currys with 16gb ram and a 6gb NVIDIA gpu. If turns out that in addition to this it also has another gpu integrated in the cpu, and the system has reserved 2.7GB of the 16Gb ram for that gpu.
That second gpu wasn't listed by currys in the specs and is redundant to me as I have the nvidia gpu, but it effectively means that the laptop only has 13.3gb of ram, not the 16gb that it was sold as.
Is this a strong enough argument that I should be able to return it?
Thanks

Chances = slim to none.
It has the advertised 16Gb ram installed
Can you link the laptop ?0 -

It has 16gb that is effectively 13.3gb because of second gpu that isn't specified on this page, I wouldn't have bought it if it had specified this0 -
I am no fan of Currys but they cannot be expected to list every conceivable feature of something like this. The detailed information is, presumably, on the manufacturer's website.davidc123_2 said:https://www.currys.co.uk/products/lenovo-ideapad-5-pro-16-laptop-amd-ryzen-7-1-tb-ssd-grey-10251247.html

Curry's website is not wrong, as such, but less detailed than you would have wished in this case?
If you had specifically asked them this question and they had given your the wrong answer that would be another matter,0 -
No chance I would have thought. No computer has the full amount of storage/memory listed in the description actually available for use. The operating system and other items uses up a fair chunk.

If you do a Google search for disabling the integral GPU with your device then you should find the instructions to switch off the integral GPU and release that memory.1

It lists the chip as the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS which is a CPU with iGPU.davidc123_2 said:https://www.currys.co.uk/products/lenovo-ideapad-5-pro-16-laptop-amd-ryzen-7-1-tb-ssd-grey-10251247.html

What are you actually using that is saturating 16GB of RAM, because that laptop is not exactly specced out for video editing and even if using gaming it is not likely to fill 16GB.davidc123_2 said:It has 16gb that is effectively 13.3gb because of second gpu that isn't specified on this page, I wouldn't have bought it if it had specified this
You can disable the iGPU in BIOS if it bothers you, that will release the RAM allocation, although battery life during normal use (pretty much anything other than gaming) because the iGPU uses a few Watts and the 4050 uses a minimum of 35W and up to 115W.

Thanks for the replies. I've raised the request with currys so we'll see how it goes.

They do have the full amount listed, but some will be consumed by the OS. The difference here is the memory is permanently reserved by the other gpu, so isn't even available to the OS or anything else to use, even though it's not being used.No chance I would have thought. I found posts about doing it on a desktop, which start by saying ensuring your monitor is plugged into the right gpu. On a laptop this isn't possible so I'm concerned I'll kill my display completely if I do that.400ixl said:If you do a Google search for disabling the integral GPU with your device then you should find the instructions to switch off the integral GPU and release that memory.0 -
If you purchased online (including click and collect with payment online) and are within the 14 days since delivery you have the right to cancel.
Currys have the correct terms so can reduce the refund to account for handling that goes beyond what would typically be available in a shop (perhaps debatable with a laptop due to display models being available with the possibility to try them) but regardless you don’t have to volunteer any information, it’s up to them to assess the goods upon receipt.
Be sure to state you are exercising your right to cancel the contract so Currys doesn’t confuse your request with any additional store policy they may have on returns.
Ideally use the model cancellation form they provide for clarity. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
If bought on-line there would be nothing wrong with opening the box, how else would someone expect to examine it. The fact Currys might have to sell returned item as open box (and get less money for it) isn't your problem and should get full refund.
What you can't do is install your own programs and return under the 14 days change of mind.

That is not how it works. Lunatic can clarify the specifics far better than I can.HillStreetBlues said:If bought on-line there would be nothing wrong with opening the box, how else would someone expect to examine it.
