Thanks for all the advice yesterday, I appreciate it all. This morning the pain has almost gone and I'm coughing less. The doc said (as did Floss) that four to six weeks seems to be the norm for this type of viral infection. I'll collect my ABs today.
This morning I'm going for my postponed hair colour and cut, the place I go to is a fair distance away so it'll take up a chunk of the day. Luckily the weather forecast is for a dry day so I'll enjoy the drive down the peninsula. My hair is in dire need of attention.
Tony Blackburn is playing two hours of music from 1964 and his days on Radio Caroline, it's fascinating and bringing back so many of my early memories. I was at the age of just beginning to notice pop music, somehow I remember so many of the lyrics. Terri's Twinkle was all there in my brain along with My Boy Lollipop. 😂😂
Need to start my day now, I'm taking things easy. I hope that others with the lurgy are on the mend.11 -
Morning All
Pleased to hear you are feeling a bit better this morning Gers but I would take the ABs just to be on the safe side.
It's cold and frosty this morning but so lovely not to wake up to pouring rain. I hung bedding out yesterday and it half dried, such a fresh smell when I brought it in. I had half an hour in the garden tidying up too enjoying the good weather.
I'll go for a swim this morning, nothing else planned so may continue with knitting the little one's cardigan. I'm not a great knitter but am quite enjoying doing this.
The bathrooms are to clean at some point and I may wave the duster about if I can be bothered!
Hope all the poorlies are recovering - sounds like you have had a nasty bout of the lurgy too taff.
Have a good weekend, take care. XX9 -
Goodmorning Gers
Thanks for starting.
Glad to hear you are starting to feel better. I'm sure the hair-do will help. I was once in hospital for months and didn't feel human until I had been to the hairdresser! Safe journey and enjoy the drive. 1964 very much my era too. Terry ...made me cry . My boy lollipop . Wasn't that by Millie ?
Dull morning here so far but more of a chill in the air.
Going to make something (.not sure what) with the many veg in the fridge and then give the bedroom a thorough clean.
Its such a small room that moving everything is difficult. I have a big free standing wardrobe which is in the way a bit but I need the storage. The furniture lay out never seems right for the shape of the room.
Might go for a walk later if weather is good. So not an exciting day.
Good wishes to all who are poorly ,or sad.

I feel as though I’m sleeping for England (and the rest of the nations) at the moment - very unusually didn't wake til 8!
The trip to the silver factory museum yesterday was interesting - it’s been left as it was when it closed in c2007. Have a lookie here for more info https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/j-w-evans-silver-factory/. Walked into the city centre and managed to get my kaffir lime leaves before the train home.Today’s activities involve returning decorations to the loft before a visit to a friend where her partner will show me how not to cut off my fingers with my new mitre saw followed by a ‘lantern walk’ in a nearby village for hospice charity (plus a catch with my oldest friend who lives 500 miles away). They’ll definitely be more sleep needed after that!Have a good weekend

Hi everyone,
I'm glad you're feeling a bit better Gers.
I lost a day yesterday feeling exhausted. Laura realised it was probably my heart problem which the consultant told me was just one of those things and shrugged it off as "yes it will make you feel ill". Luckily it happens infrequently enough that it takes me a while to realise what's happening.
Steve is much better now, thankfully but still taking it easy.
It's nice to see new posters on the thread and the occasional oldster popping up (yes, I'm talking about you Mehefin).
No news really so I will go. Have a good day.12 -
Morning all. Dull but dry here today.
Glad you're feeling a bit better Gers but please do take the antibiotics once you've collected them.
Our road is still closed at the top, to stop cars driving down and the wash flooding into people's houses. It is settling down though plus we can take the longer route out from the bottom on the road. Yesterday we went to collect DGS from his new school. There are only 12 children in Reception and 60 in the whole school but it's a lovely, friendly place and we hope he enjoys his time there.
Today I need to go and collect something I ordered for DH's birthday and then wrap it secretly. Need to be back to watch the rugby this afternoon though. Tonight we're having a gammon joint that has sat in the fridge since just before Christmas. It's still in date so we'll have it today and again tomorrow but no doubt there will still be some left after that.
Best wishes to everyone.11 -
Good morning everyone. Pleased to hear you are starting to feel a little better Gers, I hope all those others who are feeling poorly start to improve soon. I was up early today, ventured out for a paper, it was cold and frosty but dry for a change. I've done one load of washing which is on the airer, hoping it will dry as there's no wind outside to make it worth pegging out.
I might go out for a walk later to get some exercise and fresh air as well as a change of scene. Sometimes you need distractions to take your mind off things around you.
Thoughts are with those who are having a difficult time.
Take care xx11 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. You sound perkier this morning but please take the FULL course of a/bs to ward it off coming back again!
As usual I was an early bird this morning so caught the first bus down into town as there were odd bits I needed from Boots and Holland and B. I was back up home on the next bus.by 9,20. It was like a taxi both ways, I was the only one on it! It was blooming cold and frosty but what a treat to see the sun shining.
I missed Tony B this morning but 1962 was my stand out year for memories. I could still cry when I hear Ginny Come Lately! I was sweet sixteen and on a camping in a church hall holiday to Teignmouth with the Girls Brigade. We met a bunch of boys camping nearby with the Boys Brigade and I fell in love for the first time! We were almost inseparable and this was "our song" When we had to part for home he said I was his Ginny and he'd love me forever! We swore to keep in touch! I cried most of the way home on the train. I think we may have exchanged one letter before love's young dream fizzled and I can't even remember his name now!
Oh well, reminiscing time over and I had better make a start on a few jobs. First the dw is to empty as I put that on before leaving for town.
Have a good day all and I hope the sun is shining where you are too. I hope the sick bay is emptying a bit and ((HUGS)) as always for all in need, including our sad and lonely. Take care all, be safe xx

Morning all
Dry here for now but the sky looks a bit dark I suspect we will get more rain later. WM is about to finish but it will have to go on the airer, I have a load of towels to go in after as well.
Today I am going to sort out the boot cupboard it’s got in a right mess and I think we all have too many boots and shoes, will have a good sort out and get rid of anything we don’t wear any more.
Dinner tonight is what we call nabs 😬 it’s just picky bits cold meats, cheese, houmous, crisps etc, I will do some baked Camembert and part baked rolls too, it will hopefully use up all the last bits from Christmas.
Ive got a bit of pork out for tomorrow which I bought while sainsburys had the offer on, it’s a nice big bit so should do us a couple of days, I must check and see if they still have the offer on as it was a good deal.
Dogs to be walked later and then feet up this afternoon.
I hope the poorly ones start to feel better soon xxx
Have good days all and take care xx8 -
Gers - good to hear that you are feeling a bit better but please don't overdo it.
Dry here but cold with a north wind.
Mr F has gone off to town with a bag of stuff for the charity shop - I am still in pjs - having a lazy morning.
We will be going to a thanksgiving service for a soldier at the SA later today.
