Maybe chuck some chickpeas in to thicken it?

I saw that film as a suggestion, I shall give it a go at some point.

That’s excellent news on the bonus.
    It really is!

And DP has had someone in touch with him about another job opening in the same business he went for an interview before...we are hoping no Internal politics this time and that its not all for show and they don't already have who they want lined up ...like last time. We're hoping it is a genuine, open position for all to apply. I've told him to do what he wants though as it sounds like quite a high profile post and a lot more work than he already does....pay is similar but the share options are excellent and it's a global company so more room for moving about the country and with different jobs. He doesn't have that in the job he's in currently so I think he will go for it. But he was really disappointed last time so I've told him if he's happy where he is to just stay.... We will see.

  • Afternoon all,

well i have had a good afternoon sorting out kitchen cupboards, looking at what food i have in and doing a quick meal plan for this last week. Hoping I have enough now for the rest of the month/week until payday! Doing one big shop in bulk last month didn't work for me for some reason, it should have done, but didn't *hmm* so I am reverting back to weekly shopping. I have swapped to Mr T online for the first shop of the month next week. Usually use Mr S but I have had a survey tempt me if I use Mr T so will do it and see how good quality is before I decide if I want to continue for the pay out. Our usual Mr T delivery is not great quality, unsure if that is bad picking or just bad quality. Anyway first week's meal plan done for next week, shop is approx £128 with delivery charge...will update when it arrives though as that might change.

SOME good news  B) I have had a pay slip and it is a full wage for the two weeks. So £255  (I did some overtime too) I wasn't expecting that and I am half expecting them to ask for it back. It hasn't hit my bank account just yet but when it does I will send it to the EF *just in case*  they ask for it back- or some of it. It was kinda heading over there anyway as I hadn't used it or accounted for it in my budget.

I've cashed out £6.85 on surveys, as soon as I did another £1.60 cleared  grr that will have to wait until I have another £6 now. I don't mind the dribs and drabs though it takes minutes to move about from PP to bank accounts. That will also go to EF. I will work my way up towards that elusive one month's expenses as quick as I can. That is my first goal, I am at £1260 so with my wages I am almost there (can't actually remember the exact amount I said for 1 month expense now but I'm sure it was over £1500 sadly...) I will reach that next month though so all good  I have NEVER had that much in an EF fund before so this is a big mile stone for me.

Did another survey this morning, caught a big one $20 so hoping it all went through okay and clears soon. Anyhow best go do some more tidying I kind of made a mess clearing through cupboards!

  • £1750 is one month's expense I went back and looked...so I am almost there.....with this wages and next month's budgeted money I will be at £1665. I will keep chipping away at it and try and get there before end of May I think. then perhaps by the end of the year I might have two month's expenses saved for. :hushed: seems like such a long time to save two month's expenses....but I will keep on. i enjoy seeing the figure climbing slowly!

Well done on getting your first big EF, we are both working on the same task, I diverged slightly lately getting the bathroom renovated, however now that is nearly over the next thing is to get back to saving hard for a rainy day which is a big task, I know it. Well done...also your old employers really shouldn't take any money from you - that is bad if they have asked that, why don't you work out if it is correct and if you think it is correct do not give them any money back...they are a positively horrid company to work for if that is what they do/ they are incompetent/ or plain horrid I feel for you and I am glad you are out of there.

If you are having trouble working it out you can get an idea from the salary calculator, they have hours and different modifcations for overtime, student loan and tax code, I hope this helps. let me know if you need a link, Martin has one on the website somewhere.
