Just got my S'burys receipt and only three things substituted on the Xmas shop- not bad I was expecting more! £90 for the weeks worth of food. But I will need to spend approx £10-15 on fruit and salad as I didn't buy it in case it went off before Wednesday.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I've had the quickest clean through the house prior to Christmas that I've ever done! I think it helps the kids have no toys now. So no declutter to the CS needed. They empty their own bins, hoover their own room and change their own bedding (mostly).
So that's that done. I have two more washes to put through the WM today though 🙄 after I asked the kids to bring ALL washing down YESTERDAY, DS brings it down half hour before we're supposed to leave. Argh!!
Shopping has been. Some yummy treats in there. DP popped to wait rose already to get coffee and few other bits. So shopping all done until at least boxing day 😉😂.
Taking kids to their dad very soon and DP has already started on DD room - wallpaper stripping! I'm kinda glad he's doing it. It's usually my job. And I hate it. It's messy and time consuming. I'd rather put the plaster on the wall and do the sanding and painting 🤣.
Not sure if I will have time to pop in much over the next few days so been trying to catch up with diaries. Only got to the end of the first page. Some of you have far too many visitors therefore pages to catch up on 🤣 so will try and catch up on a few more but if I don't and don't get on here I hope everyone has a well deserved break whatever you're doing, whether you're celebrating with a big family or on your own and even if you aren't celebrating. 😁❤️MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Evening all, I hope a merry Christmas was had by all. We had a lovely break away just before Christmas; we managed to stick to the itinerary for the most part. We decided against the tour of the city on the last day though as we had walked our little legs off by that point and the thought of walking in the rain for three hours was a depressing thought 😆.
We also reckon we had traipsed the entirety of the city by that point anyway, whilst visiting the museums and art galleries and a few chosen restaurants. Instead we did some last minute shopping (where it was dry) and DP totally failed on our 'let's buy hedges for one another' promise. I now have a nice shiny new watch (I managed to blag a discount though) and I may have dragged him into a lingerie shop that I always buy from online (but have never found one in person) I got fitted and bought a lovely new set of undies that are beautiful 😍. We also bought our presents from DS1's money that he sent us and overall we didn't blow the budget massively. In fact, DP parents gave us some cash today so I told DP to put it into his account to cover the overspend on the watch. I'm pleased we didn't overspend, I'm also pleased we got to see lots and the journey there and back was easy & I have lots of lovely pictures to remember our trip.
DP's mum is from M'chester and was scoffing a little at our trip when she visited us a few weeks back asking why on earth we'd go there. We sent her the pictures we took and she's now thinking of re-visiting her youth 😉 I did think she might have a change of heart. When you're there for the galleries, museums and restaurants and other visitors things most places are great to visit. When you live in a place you always forget to do the fun stuff when you're in survival mode every day, work, eat, sleep repeat. I'm glad she had a change of heart I think she should visit and see it before she's too old to be able to walk around everywhere. She's very fit for her age now and I think, dare I say it, she'd have fun ☺️.
I've messaged all three children today, DD was messaging me briefly this afternoon but went quiet, DS1 has been messaging and sending pictures all day though which is nice. DS2 as usual is quiet, he doesn't really do messaging. Unless it's his GF then he's never off the phone to her 🤣.
It's been a super quiet Christmas and feels strange, I've never been without all three children and no pets at the same time! So although we've opened presents and had a nice dinner it doesn't feel like Christmas to me. That's okay though, I've had a better day than many I'm sure, so I am grateful for that. Just recognising that Christmas isn't always about fun and laughs with lots of family but sometimes having a very quiet, restful day with your partner is good enough. I have stayed off of social media for the most part but was tagged in a couple of things, so I got lost scrolling for about ten minutes earlier (ahhhh dooommmm), pulled myself out and closed it down and swore not to go back on today. I'm terrible at seeing other people's celebrations and then thinking mine is not good enough. When actually without the comparison I've had a great day. 😁🙏🏻
Today and tomorrow are our rest days then we are cracking on with some Diy before the weekend. DP actually made a good start on it. And I picked up some bits to get us going on the repairs all courtesy of the £100 gift voucher I got from work. So the plaster, and a few other bits have cost us nothing yet, so the Diy budget is still in tact 😃.
I've failed a little on the GF diet. I misread a couple of things over the last few days. Not had awful side effects so I've been okay. And where I have read things right I've always chosen GF where possible (can't blame restaurants they were actually really good it was my fault). For the most part as I'm learning as I go, I did okay 😆😁. And I've managed to stick to GF and vegan which was my goal.
I hope everyone reading has had a good day 🎄🎁☺️

I have had a lovely lazy morning, spent some time doing surveys whilst watching tv. Cashed out on one, and have £9 pending on another. I made a no-prawn cocktail
with some pre-marinated bits of tofu, and a nice salad with some lemon and marie rose sauce. Was really good and light too. I have eaten far too much the last couple of days and feeling bloated. I think I will be back to fasting before long. I have some crazy old film on in the background, American Gothic....what on earth is this supposed to be
a horror? It's more like a crazy comedy lol.
Anyway, I have spent a while doing my budget for next month. Allocated money where I could already and will allocate more when the money comes in on the 1st to the other bits. Age of money is 28 days. Not really sure that means anything though because it is only that age because of the EF. I have gotten to boxing day and I still have money in the groceries, DIY, clothing, subscription funds and my personal account! This is unheard of. An MSE win! I would love to have gotten to 2025 with a full EF of £3k. But considering all the things I have paid for this year with cash and not credit I think we have still done amazingly well. It is only a few hundred quid off that target.
The two younger kids have messaged me and I think they've had a somewhat somber Christmas, hardly surprising as they are spending it with their dad and step bro/sis - it is the first Christmas without their mum, and considering she passed on Cmas day morning I didn't expect it to be full of fun. I am hoping the Ex stuck to his word and did NOT invite the new GF around on Cmas day. She did however come over on the 23rd which DD was not looking forward to. I am so glad I am out of his drama fuelled life, sadly my children still have to partake though.
DP has started on DD room today. I am resting, I had a horrible headache this morning when I woke up and I promised myself a couple of down days. I shall not feel guilty for them either, even if DP does want to crack on. I am planning some veg for dinner, with rice and will find some protein to add to it later, perhaps a lentil mix or something from the freezer. Craving light, healthy foods. My body doesn't feel good on Christmas foods of junk and too many carbs.
Right back to this movie, it has stepped up another notch on the crazy!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
