Fully powering down alarm system

We have an Optima G3 alarm system (never really worked properly)

Just come back off holiday and the electric had tripped and at some point the battery will have run out of power.

When we switched the electricity back on the alarm went off, which we switched off, but later noticed the strobe still flashing.

Tried the reset but nothing.

Not that bothered about the alarm TBH,

If I just remove the fuse from the mains spur & the battery will that completely kill the system, (as if ripping out)  or will there be another power supply I don't know about that will trigger the alarm.

Thanks

Removing the fuse and battery will effectively kill the alarm, however, there is often an additional rechargeable battery in the bell box so the alarm may still sound with the power turned off. Once that battery is flat or disconnected, the alarm will be dead.

Any idea if I can get to the battery on the box outside (can reach via a ladder) it just says the name of the company that installed it over 20 years ago - still have the paperwork when we bought the house 8 years ago - They have long since gone out of business

Once completely dead they revert to the factory set up codes, usually 1234 for user, and 9999 for the engineer code. These should allow a reset now. The backup battery has probably died, as soon as power goes off the alarm sounds on many of these systems. Replacement 12v battery is available from Screwfix and is dead simple to swap.

As well as killing it you need to check there is no effect on your insurance. We have an alarm and receive a modest reduction in the premium for this.
