Ivie app Vs Octopus Mini

I have an Octopus mini and have recently been told about the Ivie app. A quick search on this forum brought up Ivie in the context of Loop and Bright apps but didn't give any details, afa I could see.

From research elsewhere, I've picked up that the Ivie Bud provides real time data, like the Mini, so I'm not planning on spending £50(?) for that IHD replacement (unless you lovely lot point out something significant and money saving, that I've missed).

What I'm trying to work out is whether the Ivie app can give me additional information from my smart meter data (to the Mini).

Also, is it possible to get it to recognise the Octopus Tracker tariff and if so, how? If not, I'm guessing it would mean that the financial data would always be incorrect.

  • Try OctopusWatch app.

I am on the Agile and Tracker tariffs with Octopus. My own rates on Agile work out to 15p/kWh and even with the early winter High Gas Prices (Nov/Dec 2023) my average Tracker price works out about 2p less than the Price Cap.

OctopusWatch gets the same 1/2 hourly data from Octopus and will also apply your current Tracker tariff automatically. It can also show you 24/48 hr forecast information for Electricity rates on Agile.

Other benefits are that you can see your daily consumption including standing charge and VAT historically (for months).

Give it a whirl, I can thoroughly recommend it.

Thanks @mikeisathome I do already use the Octopus Watch app.

I am a bit of a data geek so am interested whether Ivie offers anything extra. It seems to have predictions based on historical energy use, but displays in £. If I can't get more accurate cost data in, or change it to display kWh as default, then I'm wondering how useful it can be. And I will stick with just Octopus Watch
