Samsung S23 Ultra now or after S24 release?

My current phone is on its way out and I am considering purchasing a new contract on a Samsung S23 Ultra.

However, I am conscious that the Samsung S24 Ultra is due for release very soon and was thinking it might be better to wait for the S24 to release first as the S23 might then become cheaper as it will become the 'older' model.

It might be that my current phone won't last that long.

Is it likely that that the S23 will become cheaper as soon as the S24 is released?

Released on the 18th Jan so not that long to wait.
Samsung are marketing the S24 as the gateway into the next generation of AI phones.
They won't be cheap, so if you aren't worried about the new stuff keep an eye out for a S23 at (comparatively) bargain prices.
If budget is a bit tighter, the S23FE, which has recently been released, keeps getting price drops and is worth considering.

I had an S23 ultra just after it was released. Wasn't all that impressed so I changed it for Google pixel 7 pro, a lot cheaper but just as good.

just to say you should also investigate buying the s23 outright and taking out a SIM only contract for the airtime

Samsung are likely to  EoL the S23 Ultra and S23 +  fairly sharpish after the launch of the S24 series which will mean finding one  may be problematic  even from the big players in the market , they'll keep the regular S23 for a while  longer  and the S23 FE is only relatively  recently  launched
