Thank you for all your comments, it really helps.

@enthusiasticsaver - I will look at what I can bring the cost down on. My husband is self employed and works for himself and so has to deduct his tax etc. What I included in the soa is the amount he contributes each month to the mortgage and bills.

I spent the afternoon listing clothes for sale on Vinted and other items for sale on Facebook. My car insurance renewal came in today as will be an increase of £10 a month so tonight I will look at getting other quotes to see if I can get cheaper.
Is your husband aware of the debts?
Can he contribute more? He should be contributing at least half of all living costs
You both need to be on board with this otherwise you will carry on using debt to live

As others have said some of your living costs are incredibly high 🙄
    MFW 2025 #50: £1139.75/£6000

    12/06/25: Mortgage: £65,000.00
    07/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00
    18/01/25: Mortgage: £68,500.14
    27/12/24: Mortgage: £69,278.38

    27/12/24: Debt: £0 🥳😁
    27/12/24: Savings: £12,000

    07/03/25: Savings: £16,500

  • I will look at trying to reduce living costs, phones, broadband etc are tied in contracts so can’t do much about those but will see what can be reduced. Have spoken to husband about contributing more to the bills and he is going to look at what else he can pay which will help.

Had a look at my car insurance renewal last night and all other quotes were more expensive than my renewal quote! I will do another check tonight but otherwise will have to stick with my renewal even though it is an increase of £10 per month.

Husband has taken son to his football match this morning and so I have stayed in bed with a cup of tea and did our weekly meal planner and online food shop which I managed to get for £68 so I was pleased with that.

I started couch to 5k last week and need to do week 2 run 1 today as I should have done it yesterday but l spent a lot of the day sorting and listing clothes for sale on Vinted.  Trying to get my fitness up and weight down as have been struggling with chest pains and so for over a year doctor told me not to exercise at all.  Investigations into chest pain are ongoing but I have been given the ok for exercise again. I used to love running to clear my head so do want to try and get back to it.

Going to make a quick cheese and bacon bread for lunch and then have a roast lamb for dinner tonight which I got on offer last week. Think we are visiting MIL this afternoon and I also have some craft makes to list for sale.

Busy day ahead - just need to get out of bed now and do my run!

When I started C25K I repeated some weeks two or three times, not moving on to the next week until I was totally comfortable. Just something to bear in mind if you've had health issues.
  • @CRANKY40 - thanks, I think I will repeat some too as it progresses as don’t want to end up injuring myself. Was good today and did stretches and foam roller after my run as need to get back in the habit of doing!

  • This afternoon did not go as planned, one of my dogs started limping and having looked at her paw it looked inflamed and so a trip to the vet and the poor thing has an infection at the bed of her claw. She quite rightly has been feeling very sorry for herself but hopefully she will start perking up now that she is on antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication.
We do have pet insurance for her and our other dog but think the excess is around £65 and vet bill was £85 - so not too much in it but would happily pay what ever was needed to ease her pain.

  • Morning all, got to go into the office today for a meeting. Got up early and have prepped a chilli con carne and put it in the slow cooker ready for dinner tonight. Also managed to do a load of washing and hang it on the airer. Just having quick cup of tea before heading to work.

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Chilli last night was yummy, had it with rice and have enough to have tonight for dinner with jacket spuds so a tasty meal for 2 nights dinner.

Not working today and so want to do some crafty makes this afternoon to sell online and also have a few fayres lined up to sell my wax melts and dog bandanas and hair scrunchies.

Have done some surveys on swagbucks this morning but don’t quite have enough yet there to cash out.

Well done on the steps you've taken so far!!!

Just following up on comments re OH's salary... you say he pays his half of bills etc but where does anything else he earns go? (Other than tax etc) I.e. does he get to keep a chunk of money left to spend as he wishes, whereas all yours goes into covering the expenses and you're only left with a very tiny amount for yourself? Does the amount he gives you cover his half of the debts? As from what you've said these have been incurred through there not being enough in the budget to cover household expenses.

I feel it's important to say that the above isn't said to be critical of your OH or your relationship. I've had 10 years of an unfair contribution from my ex which lead to my debts - it wasn't until I'm looking back at the numbers that I realise how much pressure was on me and just how little financial help was coming from him! However, I thought everything was "ok-ish" and was otherwise fairly happy in my relationship so no judgement from me!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)
  • @twiggy86 thank you for your comments and absolutely no offence taken. He doesn’t contribute to the credit cards or loans just the bills and mortgage but things are great between us at the moment and so taking responsibility for decreasing the debt myself.

I have a table top sale on Saturday to sell my craft makes and also items from the house which aren’t needed so hope to raise some funds there to go towards debts.

Did a run and went to a Zumba class yesterday and feeling it today - thighs hurt! Went into the office today as we had a team lunch organised which I didn’t have to pay for so that was nice.
