Universal Credit Self Employed Interview

Would I be able to push to get a telephone appointment? The job centre has already cancelled the morning of one, due to staff sickness and I am struggling to find time to attend, due to working 6 days a week. The job centre isn’t close by, and I am usually working in the opposite direction, so it’s extremely inconvenient to take a couple of hours out, it would mean booking a whole day and losing income. I’ve been on UC and self employed for over 3 years, but as my child is older, I’ve been asked to attend. I have absolutely no issue providing all documents required and I know I am gainfully self employed. I’ve requested an evening or weekend appointment, but having no luck.

No, these appointments must be conducted face to face as you will be required to provide evidence of your self-employment, and you cannot do this over the phone. You will be expected to take time off work to attend if you wish to (continue) to claim UC.
