New Day cards

I got an Aqua card a couple of years ago. It had £600 as a starting limit which remained the same until August 2023 when it was put up to £1100 and then again the other day to £1850.

About a year ago, I also applied and got a Marbles card. Again, it has a credit limit of £600 and was then increased to £1350 the other day.

When I checked my credit karma report it had a personalised offer for another Aqua card. I wasn’t sure if you could do this or not so applied anyway and it’s been successful. Although I haven’t received the card yet, I’ve been able to register for online banking with a need to activate the card once it arrives. It has a £1200 starting limit.

I’ve tried Googling whether two Aqua cards is OK but can’t seem to find anything. Anyone has a similar experience that can shed some light? Not sure if I should keep to close the most recent account if it’s going to cause problems?

I do have two NatWest cards (which is apparently OK) with higher limits which I use more frequently but need to build my credit so was hoping to use the other cards for that…

I see no reason why you can't have two Aqua cards but I'd question why you want them.  When you saw the offer on your Credit Karma report, couldn't you call Aqua and ask them to increase the credit limit on your existing card?
I try to use as few credit cards as reasonably possible.

So you have 4 cards already & now applied for a 5th.

In what way are you thinking of this helping "to build my credit"

I have a Marbles and a Fluid card both from New Day. I got the Marbles in 2020 with a limit of £750 and I've had a few increases up to £3,800. I then got a Fluid card in 2022 with a limit of £1,550. I've had no increases on the Fluid card but Marbles reduced my limit back down to £1,800 last year.

Never missed a payment and always paid the statement off.

Every now and then I still get pre-approved offers from the likes of ClearScore and Karma for other New Day cards. It's all pot luck I think.
