Last week Martin recommended the Natwest balance transfer cards and as a Natwest customer they were of interest, and I thus tried to apply as the soft search gave me prior approval. However the problem came when I actually applied for real. They use a system provided by a company called Hooyu to check your ID (even for existing customers). Hooyu take a current pic of you via a smartphone, and then you upload your passport, driving licence or other recognised ID to compare. The problem is, whatever I try they reject my uploaded document for the match. This has happened repeatedly over several days. I emailed Hooyu for advice and they basically sent me the advice already issued on the application details. I note Hooyu also have a very poor rating on trustpilot. Anyone else here had this issue and know a way around it?

Any chance you can go into a branch and get them to help? Alternative is to get someone to help with the photo. I have a major problem taking selfies. And if your documents are slightly blurry that can scupper you too. Can you scan them instead as that will be clearer. Might mean a trip to the local library if you don't have your own scanner available.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
