Email Forwarding

Hi, I currently have a domain with 123reg and a simple website with hostinger that also provides email forwarding to my gmail account. The web space I bought 4 years ago, at a very reasonable £46 for 4 years. Now its due for renewal at £53 for 1 year.
I've decided, that actually all I really want is email forwarding e.g.
someone@mydomain.com -> me@gmail.com
Now Ive forgotten a lot of this hosting stuff as I do it once in a blue moon, so am I right in assuming that 123reg can do the email forwarding for me? Or is there another solution?
I had a look at 123 reg, but it wasnt obvious, maybe because the nameservers are pointing at hostinger (does that make sense?)

123.reg can forward email, I use it myself. They have changed their control panel UI recently so it may look a bit confusing. Look for "Email Privacy".
Kind Regards,

Yes they can (and so can any domain registrar). In there interests of money saving have a look elsewhere for your domain, I moved from 123-reg to 20i as their prices just kept going up and up.1

I'm in a similar position regarding 123-reg. I only use my .org.uk domain for email forwarding, but I do this for multiple addresses. 123-reg have said I need to migrate to a higher service tier for this. They've offered a first year free, but after that I'll need to pay significantly more.I'm currently considering a move to NetNerd. Looks like I can do a free transfer in and set up forwarding for multiple addresses; and subsequently pay £6.99 annually.Welcome any feedback or other recommendations.1

You can try webhostuk.co.uk they are pretty affordable and offer free email forwarding.1

Now I am confused... Does that mean you do not need hosting to have email forwarding for a domain email address? I am looking to forward emails to my gmail too, on several sites (that I hardly touch so I've forgotten the tech). And some are only domains with no site yet. Can I still set up email for all domains and forward them?
Thanks0 -
I moved everything from 123reg to 20i and only use the mail forwarding. They do offer free web space but it's not obvious, but their support was very helpful in getting it all sorted.0

Consider transferring to Inventive Hosting or Purely Domains for a far lower yearly cost particularly if you don't have a complicated or resource heavy website associated with your domains.0

If you want a website you need hosting which typically includes the email service as well.
If you just want to use the domain for emails only then you do not need a website associated with it but you do need an email server. You can either pay for a simple hosting service that includes email services or alternatively you can pay for services such as Google Workspace which would allow you to use the domain to provide email services.
Google Workspace costs more than the simple basic hosting services so if costs are the main concern a simple hosting package would work however reliability and availability may be more important or even business critical in which case a more expensive specialist service may be required.
Even if you use a basic hosting package you can configure your domain so that emails are forwarded to a Gmail account.
Inventive Hostings basic Bronze package costs £15.99 a year and provides unlimited email accounts and forwarders for an unlimited number of domains.
Google workspace starts at £60 a year.0 -
I simply registered a domain with Ionos. (well it was 'I and !' when I first registered).
https://www.ionos.co.uk/domains/web-domainThat gves me an account with them, anual cost currently about £12 for mine.
That account includes includes webmail hosting - anyname@mydomainname
(I have mine set to 'catch all', so literally any name used before the @ will go there as long as the domain name is correct).
It has a 12GB mail quota, which is plenty for me, but you can pay extra if you neeed more.
Then if I at some time want to put a website up on my domain that would cost extra depending on just what I wanted.Once you have your own domain/webmail you can forward from it to another email account. or vice-versa.I use mine to have semi-disposible Gmail accounts, data breaches at organisations happen daily and you email address might get compromised (pwnd) in one, many do every day.
So for purchases, registrations, etc. I use a Gmail account/address.
I forward my Gmail(s) to my own webmail address and read them there, so if at anytime I need to I can just abandon a compromised Gmail account and set up a new one. My own domain email address remains safe
(It also means that any spam arising from those purchases goes to the Gmail, where the spam filters will usually stop it and not forward it on).
If you do that remember to clear out the Gmail accounts now and again or they will get full and stop recieving.

They also charge £10 annually for a .co.uk domain registration when that is readily available for £5 per annum from the likes of Purely Domains.1
