I have £70,000 from sale of a house and will be using it to buy again in 6 weeks. Where is the best place to put it in the meantime please?

Agree. Just use an easy access savings account.If, like me, you use a Kroo current account then keeping the money with Kroo would be simplest. You wouldn't miss out on a great deal of interest in the 6 weeks.0
