Cost to purchase loft space

Hello and Happy New Year!
Currently am leaseholder for purpose built first floor maisonette, have lived in property for years - dream flat really
Loft is not included within the lease, so would like to purchase. I did ask during covid however freeholder didn't get back to me, and I hadn't been in touch since then. However we spoke towards the end of last year (mainly as owe some ground rent!) but he asked whether I was still interested in it
So this is a "How long is a piece of string..." but I wanted some new year positivity, and wondered if you would mind sharing any success stories of how you purchased yours, the rough cost and especially if you got a good "deal" especially any top notch negotiation tactics - at present not exploring purchasing the freehold, I haven't asked, but don't think other leaseholder would be interested
Also aware can get a loft valuation however that is roughly £2k, so if can avoid doing that the better, the landlord and I came to a reasonable agreement to increase the lease and did it informally, so am hoping something can be worked out, just want to be prepared!
Any advice appreciated

Hello there
I was in pretty much identical living arrangements to you and managed to get my roof space thrown in when I extended the lease.
Others in the row of maisonettes bought their roof spaces but I don't know how much for? 2500 rings a bell but I cannot be sure where I got that figure from.
When I sold the property I met the freeholder in person as he wanted to come out and have a look before doing the Leaseholder Pack and he mentioned that he sold the remaining roof spaces he had to speculators for 1000 quid a go, but that they wouldn't ever be able to use them without buying the maisonettes below. Just came up in a chat so I didn't push for information... Was more keen I'm distracting him away from the walls I'd moved and doorway I'd cut in without permission!
Hope this helps in some way?

Hi thanks! That sounds an amazing price - in my mind, I think he will come back with a starting price of £25,000... ouch
Good trick to get loft done when lease extended, definitely didn't have budget then was relieved to get the lease sorted

I just found this which was the auction ad for one of the roof spaces in my row...

Out of interest what would you intend to do with it ?1 -
