  • Morning, it is so hard when you get used to just spending whenever, to try and be purposeful with spending! You have a great plan and I look forward to checking in! I was looking at the 100 steps challenge, does look very interesting and quite encouraging!

Yes! I’m so in the habit of nipping in the shop. Used a voucher today so I’m counting at as a no spend day as I didn’t spend any of my money. Got that washing up liquid! Free! 100 steps challene is really making me break it down to a manageable and do able task!

  • So not counting that voucher (cheeky but it’s *technically* not spending my
money) … I have spent nothing today. Got enough food in for the week/meal planned. Leftovers stored in my nice ‘lots of space now I’ve defrosted’ freezer. Just sorted out three shelves of paper work too.
Now a chill and enjoy. I am not doing well at the no alcohol days. A wine in the eve is my Achilles heel. Smoking - almost nothing- none in either. Rome wasn’t built in a day though.
    Plan for the week:
declutter everyday- to do; wardrobe, draws x2
    Mon, Tues, Weds, NSD.
Mon £205 from H2S bonus goes into DMP overpayment pot- if
still there towards the end of the month and no emergencies/I stick to plan- it will be overpaid. The first time I will of ever been able to overpay ever. And that will get me on track for being debt free this year.
Thurs- if achieved pat on back!
    Fri- organise then, fun/wine/food shop
    Sat - chill
Sun - reset and go again.

  • Well done on the steps so far. You sound very motivated. Tracking the NSDs really does help you to think about every purchase.

Thank you for reading and the lovely post! So agree those NSD are really important. They are underpinning my
day to day mindfulness about budgeting. Also make me feel like I have control. I am planning so much better. Just honestly desperate to get out of debt, feels like I am on the home straight and I want to do everything I can to get there quicker... It’s been so long and it feels like such a hangover from such a really horrible time. I’m just imagining everyday what it will feel like to get there! 🎉

Thank you, best of luck. Yes diary seems to be a good thing to get used to and is very helpful for checking in and accountability.
Now for a day at work to make the money and keep me away from spending!

  • So today I did a tiny tidy/sort out a couple of things while waiting for children to do teeth/get out the door! Also planning the same later- tiny tidy!
I’ve put £205 in my overpayment pot and hopefully that can take me up to 11/100 steps this month.
I’ve had a NSD and alcohol free day too.
    Very positive.
Noticing a real positive difference and shift in my wellbeing and mood too.

The positive shift in your mood will almost certainly be because you have put a plan in place to get your finances shipshape. However much we might wish otherwise, all big projects require planning, as without that, they are pretty much just dreams.
Good luck with it all. There is nothing like the feeling when you finally make the last payment & realise that all your income is now your own.
