Help with installing a motion sensor light in cloak room

Hi
Our cloak room has light and extractor fan coming on by pull cord switch. But every two months or so the cord gets snapped by the guests using the cloak room.
I was wondering if I could install a motion sensor gadget which would turn on the light and extractor fan(which stays on for 3 mins) on detecting motion and I could get rid of the cord.
Any suggestions or recommendations on the gadget needed.
DIY option would be great.
Many Thanks

PIR a good call, but Nobbie1967 left you to work-out how to wire it up! I have done this arrangement in my properties every time I move house, works well. Run-time adjustable via the sensor, a recessed version virtually flush to ceiling is also available from electrical suppliers, see TLC-direct.co.uk search on Recessed PIR. Maybe put the light on the same PIR, save replacing the pull cord? Good luck!0
