You're going to get better advice from a solicitor than from a bunch of random people on the internet*.

    *and that does include me.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

People get lots of differing advice online, but it helps them think about the problem.

Solicitor would cost £xxxx, all you need to do is reject the car if its taking too long. How did you pay for the car?

"Solicitor would cost £xxxx, all you need to do is reject the car if its taking too long. How did you pay for the car?"

Bank transfer.  Wife's niece is a solicitor, think they can be a bit like GPs sometimes tho, don't have detailed knowledge on specific types of cases/problems. Although issues with cars is a big thing I imagine.

    - Just to update - got a full refund. Sent recorded letter using CAB template to dealership - still no refund
Sent letter to complaints/head office and did a freedom of info request for all calls, emails, text messages that mention the car, me and/or the wife - offered refund 3 days later.

One important bit of info for anyone looking to get a refund on a car - according to the last guy at CAB I spoke to - "the clock stops ticking" on the 30 days window to return with a fault, if you/the new car owner, hasn't been in possession of the car.

We only had it 2 weeks before fault and then it took 3 weeks to inspect the car - so I thought 30 day window was up, but apparently not.

Not sure exactly why they decided on a refund, we complained about a few breaches of CRA 2015

Was proper stressful, took us about 8 years of living like hermits to save the money...
