Threat of Identity Theft/Fraud

Hello,

I am looking for some advice please. I have had my identifiable documents stolen (address, account numbers, dob, NI number, etc) and I am wanting to understand the best ways to protect myself from identity theft/fraud.

I have informed my banks, who aren’t overly concerned because the thieves don’t have my cards or banking details. I have also set up a CIFAS Protective Registration. Is it worth trying to tell the credit agencies, or is this what the Protective Registration is for? Or do I just need to download my credit report each month (and is it from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion)? I have a crime number from the police, but am unsure of how to act to minimise the threat of fraud.

Any advice would be appreciated.
