Morning! Off home today and back to real life. Might go for a coffee with a friend if I’m home in time. Had a lovely time last night with my friend and her family. It was so lovely to see her as I haven’t seen her for ten years as she lives abroad. Plus my mother and sister were still up when I got home so I got to see them before the New Year. Determined to get fit and lose weight this year. Going to work on my portion size and unhealthy snacks and going swimming regularly. I’ve got a to do list as long as my arm for today and tomorrow. Hope everyone else is good.18

Inevitably I was in bed and asleep before the bells. I've recorded a few things to watch today. Nothing planned except perhaps a wee walk if the weather is kind.My SIL and I had a lovely long chat just before '24 arrived in QLD, others sent texts and I received an adorable video of my youngest great niece watching her first fireworks display in QLD, she was delighted and amazed, full of wonder. It brought tears to my eyes. And so, here it is 2024. I wish everyone the very best for the year. There'll be ups and downs, good days and awful ones, through it all we'll be here to share and support.18

Morning all; the first of 2024. Happy New Year
I'm up earlyish and will be out in a while to meet 12 friends for a walk around Rickmansworth Aquadrome, followed by a pub lunch. After that will be chillin' at home and looking forward to a return to normality.
Happy NYD16 -
Morning everyone I was up at midnight dancing around with 3 dogs trying to make as much noise as possible to drown out the noise of the fireworks thank the lord for Rick Astley it didn’t last long I had them all settled down within half an hour of them stopping that’s it now until October. I’ve been weighed and measured that’s my focus this year and to be healthy wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year14

Morning folks and a Happy New Year. I had the usual tossing and turning clock watching night. The first batch of fireworks went off at 10.30 and sounded pretty close. Then inevitably more went off at midnight and later I heard more distant ones going off. Can we hope that will be it for fireworks until the 5th November?!
I had a run out with DD and youngest yesterday afternoon to the lovely garden centre over the tops. They always have a 50% off everything (except plants!!) sale between Xmas and NY selling off all the beautiful Christmas stuff and some gifts. DD spent a small fortune but, in the spirit of MSE, I was far more restrained!
Today I plan on taking down the decs but will leave a few of the sparkly lights for a few more days, as it always looks so dismal without them twinkling away. I have gone through an enormous bag of candle lights as well and will need to re-stock on those. I like my candles burning in the dark winter evenings.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad and lonely. Take care all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Happy New Year everyone,
We had a very quiet one, I was in bed before midnight although someone local had a lot of fireworks.
Have a good day.15 -
Happy New Year's day, everyone and a good 2024 Thanks for starting Gers, the video sounds lovely.WL enjoy your walk. Its the littlethings- good luck with your health & weight plan this year.Izzy, we were the same with the fireworks, grr. BigDog had had 2 lots of sedatives but she was still scratching the carpet, especially at 12. The last ones I remember were about 2am and then she went to sleep thank goodness. I had hoped the horrendous rain would have limited them!DH has started with the lurgy, sneezing and blowing his nose for England. I'm not sure he wants to go to the match later, if not he'll drop me at DS.Yesterday I nipped into A$da, I'd run out of breakfast yogurt and a few other bits. He stayed in the car. It was manic, full car park and he sat trying to count the no. of cars coming in, over 100 and I was only in 20 mins. I picked up a pack of 4 massive Yorkshires for 13p, which we had with our roast beef last night. Plenty beef left, oh no I shall have to find a space in 1 of the freezers! Easier said than done. I've got a pork tenderloin out for later. I'll probably chop it up so it'll be quick to cook when I get home from the match. I also did an apple & (foraged & frozen) blackberry pie, half of that left too.TA sounds like a nice run out, DH asked when we were taking the decs down but I'm not doing it todayTake care everyone x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning All
Happy New Year! Hope 2024 brings you luck, health and happiness.
I slept really well last night, hardly surprising as I went for a walk with DD and the little one and we played in the snow for ages. Seems the next town along had much more snow than we had and it's only 2 miles away.
If there were any fireworks at midnight I didn't hear them.
I've been for a walk this morning, only a mile or so, took the glass to the recycling bank on the way. I'm going to do some sort of exercise every day so a walk was a good start. Didn't see a soul out!
I'm going to DDs for lunch today, she will come and pick me up and bring me home again as DS2 still has the car.
Hope all the poorlies are feeling better today.
Have a good day, take care. XX13 -

Morning all, Happy New year !
I changed the bedding and put it through the wm yesterday, so it should be dry enough to put away this morning. We were in bed before midnight but then I was woken by an almighty loud boom from a firework, it sounded like a thunder clap right overhead ! They went on for over half an hour and I lay awake with my heart pounding waiting for the next one. Meanwhile Mr Fix It snored his way through it and then I had trouble settling again !
Today will be a quiet day as Dad is not well enough to come for lunch so we'll postpone it. Now though I don't know what to have for lunch although there's plenty in the freezers to choose from. I need to empty the DW and put the breakfast dishes in. DD and family are jetting off to NY so I hope the weather is kind for flying.
Take care all
