Laura_Elsewhere said:We used our ClubCard points a couple of years ago to replace all our old chipped varied crockery with nice solid Denby! We have four of their beautiful deep-blue big plates and four big wide pasta bowls in deep-blue; and we have big plates in their sort of speckledy 'Heritage' range, in pink, blue, green and cream, and medium and small plates too- all the plates are the 'coupe' sort with a raised rim, which we prefer.
We struggle to use our points too- we've both just converted all our Nectar points to vouchers to use on eBay over the coming months- you have to convert them this week, so do that if you haven't and meant to!
Thanks for mentioning the Nectar points. I didn't know about that so I need to consider.WelshmansDaughter said:Carrot, orange and ginger juice is lovelyI think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Today has been overcast with a few showers, but warm in a hazy sort of way. I gathered a big bundle of things that needed to be taken back where they belong, and decided against trying to fit in a trip to the garden centre at the same time. As it was, all the things are now out of the house and I've also finished a lot of laminating ready for the children's group - and that's out of the house, too.
On the way home I bought ginger and garlic for a recipe, ham trimmings because I love smoked ham and a free bakery item from L1dl (I chose pizza and it's gone in the freezer for a lunch one day). I then spent the afternoon making vegetables into soup: the carrot and ginger is nice but very hot, and the cream of celery is okay apart from being a bit too salty. There are four portions in the fridge for other days.
Work was three hours but between me being elsewhere on three days and them only having one other day to offer me, I'm only working one day next week.
Lots of bits and pieces to get done in the next couple of days: consider if I want to send for any photos off the app (it's a 'pay for postage' deal that runs a month at a time), pay for Saturday's outing, pay off credit card, see about converting Nectar points... I think there are more.

I seem to have far too many bitty jobs to do today so I'll make a list and add to it as I remember more.
At present it's sunny and definitely a nice day but there's the possibility of showers so I need to plan so any outdoor things come earlier. Never my strength.
Wash my hair by 12.30
email manager re payslip - done: and I heard back that the date of the job title error may indicate it's coincidental with me being moved into her staff group, so she's going to put that right. I'm less clear about the annual leave so I've asked for more clarification.
pay for trip on Saturday and my friend has asked how I'd like to be repaid.
pay off credit card website timed out - by 12.30. Finally got it paid this evening.

check if I have a garden centre voucher to spend before September the website doesn't acknowledge it so either I've spent it all or it's out of date or the website is the wrong one - will have to take it in to get them to check. Gave up online by 1.30

mow lawn if dry - a bit too wet by 1.30

I forgot to say that DH finally has a garage! There are no garages attached to our houses and we've never been able to get hold of one of the local ones but he enquired again recently and got a phone call yesterday! He will pay for it with his share of income from the flat, and it will house not our current car but a classic. This won't be a huge, huge spend but he adores older cars so it's a bucket list item.
I'm having to work out how to enter this on my spreadsheet: I think I count income from the flat as income (sounds rather obvious if I put it that way!) and just trace its ingress and egress and leave it to him to do anything else. I'm not a car person at all.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Classic cars if well looked after are a wise investment. Unlike modern cars classic cars hold their value and increase in value over time.1

Thanks, @lookbook, I hope it works out this way! He's been dreaming about it long enough - it won't be a 'forever thing' but he really wants to have ticked that item off the bucket list.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Frustratingly, I've achieved almost nothing so far. Hair is washed, and I put away the sweatshirts I'd left in various places. The bin is back and the recycling has gone in it. I tried to pay the credit card and it timed out on me so I don't know if it's gone through or not and will have to check later.
Lunchtime now: I'm going to have celery soup (three remaining soups in fridge!) and regroup. The weather is still nice but do I have time to do non-urgent outdoorsy stuff now when we are close to the month's end and there are a few jobs to close off by then?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Most of the list got done in the end, though too many things weren't working as they should. Details added to my post above. The soup is a particular happy point.
Remaining list is now:

look for any photos I might want hard copies of

check re Clubcard points
mend DH's jumper
buy embroidery thread to match my new jumper
mow lawn
take garden centre voucher to the garden centre and ask them to check its status.

Today's plan is the list above, plus church cleaning and watering the plants, then 'work' cleaning later.
Blackberries need to be picked.
I think I've solved what's happening about my accrued annual leave - if I don't claim it, it gets paid to me on a seemingly random basis. I think I need to take note when that happens and put it into savings so it doesn't get whittled away but I can draw on it on months when I haven't had as much work.
Now the dishwasher is running and I need to gather up a shopping list and the stuff for the garden centre and do a round trip - church, garden centre, back via Sains and possibly L!dl as I have a doughnut to collect from their lucky dip promotion. Actually I have two but I can't claim both at once.
The liquid strawberry jam from yesterday is okay, apart from being liquid and there's tons of soup for lunches (I will check the freezer and see if I can move some over).
And I dreamed I was going to the children's group and forgot my uniform tee shirt so I had to fetch it which resulted in clothes being all caught up together and getting strewn everywhere, then the road back was a perilous mountain track which had fallen away so after clambering along like a goat for a while I admitted defeat and turned back, knowing I was going to be late. DH says it's a classic anxiety dream. He could have a point, couldn't he?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

You tire me out with your diary - you are always on the go!1 -
Loved the Denby chat which sent me off on a google rabbit hole to work out what Denby stuff I had many years ago. I was given it by a boyfriend when I moved into my first house (he was moving on) and it was Denby Memories. i remember the plates were oval (probably small serving plates although he said they were steak plates) and they were fabulous. Found myself almost buying some for old times sake on bay of E then remembered i am meant to be decluttering not adding clutter.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2
