Ulsterbank pain trying to open a Loyalty Saver account

I saw on the weekly email that UB had a loyalty saver account, paying 5.2% for £5+. Great I thought, so I applied to open an account. A letter arrived on the 2nd Dec telling me of my reference number and that a customer number would be sent by email within 48hrs. Nothing to date has been received and I've checked the junk. I got a text message with a pass code which was valid until the 28th Dec. Still nothing received, so I contacted Ulsterbank Anytime and spoke to a human. I told her what had happened or not and she couldn't help me. She said I need to send an email to "applications@natwest.com" and put my request to them. This bounced back by the postmaster as an invalid address. I'm just not destined to get an account. Has anyone else had a hard time or am I just that unlucky.
Steve.

Some time ago I opened an Ulster Bank Loyalty Saver account. It did take an extraordinary long time to be operational compared to most other banks. The whole process was quite confusing. However they did keep to their promises in relation to timescales. Once set up and the complications of initial limited withdrawal amounts allowed were overcome everything is working well. Withdrawals and deposits are instant and they can be made to and from any external account, not just a nominated account (as long as they allow it)1

There was a post quite recently which stated he could not send money to a external account the only way was to setup a current accountMalchester said:Some time ago I opened an Ulster Bank Loyalty Saver account.
