When is it you actually over the credit card limit??

Is it pending? Post on transaction? Or on statement date?

  • When your transactions take you over the limit.

Some will allow you to rectify within the same day.

Suppose you have a credit limit of £3000.  You have £2900 of posted transactions and £150 of pending transactions.
Then technically you're not over the limit until your pending transactions have posted...but if you attempt to make further transactions then you might get an "over limit" message.

You are over the limit, the credit card company will not retract the payment requested by the merchant as the consumer would have already received the goods, the time it takes to post/clear is just semantics.

Do not go over you limit at any time and you'll not be in breach of your terms and conditions.
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

    Secured/Unsecured loans x 1
    Credit Cards x 8 (total limit £55,050)

    Creation Credit Sale 0% x 1 = £112.50pm x 20 mths
    0% Overdraft x 1 (£0 / £250)
    Mortgage Outstanding - £137,707.00 (Payment 13/360)
    Total Debt = £7,400 (0%APR) @ £100pm - Stoozing
