Ovo online accounts down amd power move

 I been moved over to OVO from Boost this month. I was sent a statement for next  years future annual gas cost. Only received for gas no electricity. Im single parent with 2 children and being told will be £4,179.00. Been in contact with OVO and they advised me incorrect amount. They told me new amount but again only for gas. I was told not able to create online account as systems down until April 2024!!!! So I can not see what my actual amount is. Looking online this been problem for other customers since the start of this year. How can we be sent incorrect statements and also be told we can't see or have access to our accounts until April 2024. Also being sent emails and have seen on this site about OVOs power move to save money on bills. However was told cant join the event because systems down
 So why are sites and OVO still advertising this? Constantly getting emails from OVO to set up account but again was told this is  incorrect I should not be receiving emails as customers not able to access accounts. Surely this can't be right? I want to see my accounts and know what is what. Anyone else had same problem? Customer service with OVO were very friendly but could not help or understand why this happening.

    If you aren't happy with Ovo, why don't you move to another provider?

    We can help you work out what your annual bill/monthly payment should be - if you can tell us a meter reading from about a year ago (on one of your old bills) and a meter reading from today.

    I personally would not recommend moving until you have an account correctly set up as it can cause more problems down the line... but I would suggest formally making a complaint. In 8 weeks if it's not resolved then you can escalate it to the ombudsman who will order them to fix the issue and likely issue you some compensation for the inconvenience.

  • I cant leave OVO just yet as dont have access to my new account. Its been wks now. I been told systems wont be up and running again until early 2024. I have also seen on OVO forum that customers have been  waiting months to access accounts. I want to see for myself what Im being charged etc. When speak to customer service over email and phone being told different amounts.. They also saying my electricity account not even showing only gas. So just very concerned about it all. Will see what happens in new year and go from there. Thank u all for replies

    I agree with @ArbitraryRandom that it's probably better to get the issues with Ovo sorted out before switching supplier.
    Octopus are likely to be far more helpful as these Government figures show.
    In 2022 Ovo fitted 16,867 prepayment meters under warrant.  Octopus fitted just 32 (yes, thirty two !).
