Travel insurance and hotel booking under someone else

I was wondering how travel insurance cover works if the hotel booking is made in someone else's name within the group
For example if I had to cancel for whatever reason and wanted to claim back my part of the hotel booking (I had transferred money to the person who booked)
Would I get covered by the travel insurance?

You'd be covered as long as the reason for cancelling was covered by the policy.0

Thanks! Even if the hotel booking isn't in my name?MorningcoffeeIV said:You'd be covered as long as the reason for cancelling was covered by the policy.0 -
Are you referring to your own room...room will now be empty or were you sharing a room and will now have 1 guest instead of 2?
You would also need to be cancelling based on specific inclusions within your policy...eg doctor says unfit to travel. If you just decide you don't want to go any more then the money will likely be lost unless it was a room for yourself and booked as a refundable rate.0 -
Let's say if the room was going to be empty because the whole trip got cancelled because someone fell ill before traveling (family trip). I just wanted to make sure I get the right insurance and cover and right bookings with the namesCaz3121 said:Are you referring to your own room...room will now be empty or were you sharing a room and will now have 1 guest instead of 2?

It is a few different families together on a trip together so we are buying separate insurance0
