Thank you @PipneyJane for reminder.I've checked all woollens except welsh blankets so far. We don't have carpets, (stone floor downstairs, floorboards with rugs upstairs), so haven't seen moth, but I do put any not currently in use, cedar shoe trees in my jumper drawers, along with cotton pads with few drops of lavendar essential oil.Fashion on the Ration 2025 37/667

Hi, I use the lakeland lavender moth things all year round now after my moth attack. I have them in every draw and some hanging in the wardrobe. I change them every 3 months justin case. I also have some of their moth spray to use on the carpets. I did find moth damage last year on a jumper of OH's that had been left in a pile in the living room so that was thrown straight in the bin and the carpet was sprayed. I have got to admit I am not sure what chemical is in it, the lavender is just an added perfume, but like Laura I usually try to be eco as much as possible but after losing my cashmere cardigan and a few other woolen bits it was war
. Not completely convinced that I have won yet but I don't think I would trust cedar things etc to deal with them.
Take care everyone8 -
I will be sure to look out for lavender/cedar, thanks @PipneyJane. I can't be shaking my things out and airing them just yet as a) it's midnight and b) I'm not at home, but it's a good project for later in the week.
I have a couple of no-coupon spends to declare as I wandered into a very nice Oxfam today. There's a floaty blue dress, make unknown, and a perfect-for-me M&S jumper which they ill-advisedly made with a large percentage of acrylic, so I spent a chunk of this evening trimming bobbles off it. It's a case of something I'd be willing to pay more for in a better fibre, as the design is so nice. However, my trusty scissors have vastly improved things and I'm looking forward to wearing it.
I've also realised that acrylic never seems to wear out, it just gets more and more bobbly and stretched, but it gets used for some pretty stuff. (Sigh). I bet the moths don't like it, though.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Excuse me if this is TMI but I had a really rough day yesterday, probably brought on by using far too much Singapore Noodle paste in Monday night’s dinner. My poor gastric system just couldn’t cope with the heat. Any suggestions about how to remove D&V related stains from fabric would be much appreciated. (I soaked everything in oxy-bleach for 24 hours and they’re currently in a 30c wash. Hopefully that will be enough to do the trick.)

Oh, you poor thing, @PipneyJane!
I would try to avoid letting the fabrics dry until you are sure the stains are out- I know sometimes it's difficult to tell, but just put 'em in a bucket of cold tapwater, turning and swishing a couple of times a day and changing the water every couple of days, until you're doing more laundry and keep putting them through, soaking in between.
Drying or heat will 'set' most stains, so best avoided til you're sure it's cleaned. And go gently on yourself!!!!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Oh poor you @PipneyJane! I hope you're feeling better now? I would tend to go for a 'biological' remedy, which I think is along the same lines you are doing, plus sunlight, but it might take a couple of washes.
Looking up the Singapore noodle paste, there seems to be a lot of yellow in there. I found this for mustard stains (soak in fresh lemon juice, then a series of 'apply X stain remover and allow to soak in'). For turmeric, Good Housekeeping recommends soaking the affected area on clothing with detergent for 20 minutes before washing, or for carpets, a paste of baking soda, washing up liquid and water.
I've not tried these - I'd go for the lemon juice, detergent and sunshine, if available, or elsewhere I've seen recommendation of lemon juice and baking soda. A bit of 'you pays your money and you takes your choice', but possibly your treatment will be effective straight off and you won't need to raid the larder or hope for nice weather.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Sorry to hear it Pip, hope you’re feeling better now. I’m a ‘Nancy’ fan - former BakeOff winner Nancy Birtwhistle - and she uses green bleach, bicarbonate and sunlight for most stains. If you search you’ll find lots of links, definitely sunlight for turmeric.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.8

For a lot of stains, if you use a mild acid, and put them out, still wet with the mild acid, in sunlight, then it works even better- mild acids could include diluted lemon juice, milk, water that rhubarb leaves have been boiled in (don't drink that as it's toxic! But a useful oxalic acid solution), etc... stale urine works very well too as it becomes, over about a week, an odourless mild-ammonia solution...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
