I find coupons really help when it comes to buying new, but temptation is reduced since our High Street has very few clothing shops now. Where it doesn't help is buying second hand! I bought too much last year, though I donated some back, but if I used coupon values for second hand, I'd be sky high once the car boot season starts. I know a few of us are already counting coupons on second hand stuff, so perhaps I should keep a tally and see the scale of my problem.
The big advantage I've found has been buying less yarn. I can buy faster than I knit, by a long way. I'm seriously thinking of making myself one of those little sleeveless pullovers that are fashionable this spring, though.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I don't know how anyone manages without slipovers (they have a range of names)- I love mine and wear them a lot- in spring and autumn, with or without cardigans, when it's not cold enough for a thick jumper.... and even in summer over a linen shirt when it's chilly- and in winter they make a fabulously-warming layer worn under a light jumper, two light wool layers always being warmer than one thick layer. I have plain ones, striped and stranded colourwork, and am about to start knitting another stranded one2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

I want one to wear over shirts and possibly under other layers though I like my arms warm as well which is why I've not got any so far. I do have an aran waistcoat that I made years ago, which needs to be found and used again.

Sleeveless pullovers are fashionable? Hmmm…. What did I do with the pink one that I bought in ?? 1987 ? I’m sure I still have it.

My favourite slipover, knitted two years ago in cream DK with four different pink-brown wools, some DK and some 4-ply held double- I'm planning one in blues, from pale-blue to indigo-inky-blue next...

That's officially gorgeous, @Laura_Elsewhere. Both the colours and the way you've combined them.
I remember my aran waistcoat has a tiny bit of moth damage right on the front of the neckline, which rather puts me off wearing it as it's obvious. Short of trying to unpick and reknit (which would involve finding the perfect yarn to match), I'm not sure what could disguise it.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Those colours are beautiful, @Laura_Elsewhere. When you have time, please take/post a photo of the finished vest.

@TC77 I remember Mum (aka Mummy Floriana) telling me it was the fat in the milk that worked the magic. I think it might be an enzyme in the milk but that part of the science lesson has been forgotten. I vaguely remember having success with posh M&S s/skimmed milk but it did take longer than bog standard full fat (which is what we normally drink anyway).
I had a very long evening lifting biro from a beautiful sky blue leather purse with a cotton bud and a small pot of milk……✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Thank you @PipneyJane and @Laura_Elsewhere, I will be more mindful with 6 coupons (Plus what I check from Jan but you can see my procrastination in finding this out).
I love a popover/ sleeveless jumper but haven't found ones I like and did think it could be a good route back to knitting (decades since I've knitted) but want to find a good easy pattern). I bought one in a CS but it's slighty too deep a v neck so not right over shirts.6 -
