7.5 miles is just about twice what I do on a normal day; there are advantages to living in a "walkable" community! I know I won't be able to do much on Thursday, when I'm driving down to Cornwall on top secret business (aka the Eden Project) or Saturday, when I'm driving back, via a long stop-off at the docks to meet up with an old friend whilst OH is inspecting the radar installations (ok, footy) at Home Park. So I thought I'd better get ahead whilst the going's good - well, dry-ish, anyway!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)10

I like these vintage handkerchiefs by Shamrock Linens, hand crochet edgings on Irish linen. They were £5 plus postage from the second hand store, a good price. I hope there are no sellotape marks, though I got some off recently rubbing with surgical spirit to soften it over several day, followed by soap.11

That's lovely work @Nelliegrace.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

I will be “inspecting” American radar installations on Sunday (NFL match at Tottenham). My sock knitting will be coming with me.
@Nelliegrace, once again, you’ve found some beautiful hankies. The handiwork that has gone into this set is amazing.PipneyJane said:Oh no!!! From Sunday, L!dl are selling sock yarn again. Someone stop me, please!
Help!

Ahem… I’m bust! Blew all my remaining 9 coupons plus 7 that I’ve “borrowed” from my next allocation. On Monday, my local L!dl had one pack of their Anika 4-ply sock yarn in the Anthracite colourway and I couldn’t resist.
On Tuesday, I had to collect the new right lens for my glasses - the original correction for the astigmatism wasn’t strong enough - and on the way home, I dropped into two more branches, buying another pack in one and two more packs in the other. That will give me enough for a long sleeved jumper for me - the plain skeins - plus at least 6 pairs of socks. 16 coupons spent. Fortunately, L!dl will hold two packs until we get the next tranche of coupons. (Some shops would do this, back in the day.)
- Pip (now to adjust my signature)"Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!
2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 66 coupons - 39.5 spent.
4 - Thermal Socks from L!dl
4 - 1 pair "combinations" (Merino wool thermal top & leggings)
6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
22 - yarn
1.5 - sports bra
2 - leather wallet9 -
Hi all,
@PipneyJane you do make me smile. "No more yarn" you said but then just couldn't resist. I think you need to consider it as stress relief as you love knitting so much
. I have also been "inspecting radar installations'. Enjoying it so far considering the seismic change of manager
I have new things but they came in the form of birthday gifts, a new fleece and 2 pairs of socks, because I obviously need them, NOT, but they are lovely and I am now having a bit of a sort out to see what I can pass along to the cs to make some space in my wardrobe
Take care everyone10 -
Hi all, forgot to mention I visited our local national trust property on Sunday for their apple day and picked up 2 books in their second hand book shop, Victorian cross stitch which has lots of interesting charts and Kaffe Fassett glorious knitting that has over 30 patterns
. They were £2 each which I thought was a real bargain

Asking for a friend - if my OH gets me a voucher for a yarn store, I don’t need to count it?Fashion on the Ration

@Sarahspangles, I'd say no, it comes off his coupons.
We don't have enough fellows who knit, sew or crochet here: come on chaps! Were none of you in the Navy?

If it's from your family, I would class it as a present, ie they've bought you some wool for your birthday, in which case, their coupons
It might be considered differently if it's eg a supermarket voucher as compensation for their screwing up an order, that kind of thing.
It was a LOT more complex in the 1940s, if it helps2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

@thriftwizard, you're helping me no end... haven't been out for a walk yet today but it's is mild and sunny outside and I've just waded through tons of washing-up after making bread and jam tarts and cheese twists (I've put the wonky bits in the tin- help yourselves!)... I'm going to pop out, just round the block, better than not!
