Car Insurance - No claims discount/bonus has expired

Hello,
My no claims discount/bonus of 9 years expired on the 21st of September 2023 as I have not owned a car since the 21st of September 2021. Does this mean I need to state I have zero years no claims discount/bonus when obtaining future car insurance quotes? I am a named driver on my wife's account so I have still been driving regularly. Does this count for anything?
Kind regards and thanks in advance.

A very small number of insurers will accept a no claims bonus for up to three years after it was last used. Currently Admiral are the only one that I know of.
Depending on who your wife's insurer is, they MAY offer you a "named driver no claims discount", but you would have to take it a policy out with the same insurer for this to apply - it will not generally be recognised by other insurers.
Otherwise yes, you will have to declare zero years NCD. Insurers will generally ask if you are a named driver on another policy, and if you are it will tend to reduce your premium a bit, but it doesn't give you a formal "no claims discount" as such.
It may be a bit late now, but if you go down to being a one car household, the way to keep both NCDs active is for you to insure the car one year and your wife to insure it the next year etc - that way neither of them excited, at least not until one of you makes a claim.1 -
Also, try speaking to your previous insurer to see if they will still honour it.0
