i am in process of buying house and formal mortgage is approved. However I was checking my credit score and found out that I missed a payment from
virgin broadband .This was added on in credit file yesterday.Will this affect my completion of purchase .

I spoke with virgin broadband and according to them there is no missing payment and my payment is up to date.
So I have emailed their credit department
with my concern .I was told that it will take 14 working days to get a reply meanwhile my house buying process is
in jeopardy. My Experian credit score reduced by 100 points since yesterday
if I won’t be able to complete my purchase will I be able to ask compensation from virgin

Reread the Sticky regarding credit scores.
The Virgin staff you spoke with may not have the updated credit details yet given the number of bank holidays we've had and the fact that the default was registered yesterday - reference agencies can show a month lag.
Before talking about compensation carry out your own due diligence into your banking and then revisit that idea.

Unfortunately yes, a missed payments might affect it but some lenders disregard Comms and utility debt etc, but I wouldn't assume yours is one so you need to get it removed before you exchange.
Did you really miss a payment though? I left Virgin media and I didn't notice until some years later but they stuck me with a late payment even though I paid by DD, so if the payment was late it was their fault. The only late payment in my life, so I was annoyed about it but it was over 5 years ago I just let it go.1 -
If formal mortgage is approved you are probably ok. I don’t think they’ll credit score you again before releasing the funds.On the missed virgin payment surely you know from your own bank details whether you have paid it this month or not?3

This seems to be an oddity in the way Virgin work the accounts. I have not left Virgin but recently was out of contract and accepted a new, two-year price with Virgin. For reasons I do not understand, the new price was set up as a new account and the old account closed. When Virgin closed the old account, they also ended the DD (at their end) and did all that before the final payment was taken (£21) so this resulted in reminder and threatening debt letters from Virgin. Quite an illogical way that Virgin make changes.1 -
There is no such thing as a "credit score" as far as lenders are concerned. It's a marketing trick designed so consumers sign up to ad laden sites like Credit Karma etc.Signature on holiday for two weeks0

My virgin contract expired on November 30 however i was offered a better contract for another 18 months which
i took. So i continued with virgin with the same router, same direct debit account ,and same customer number. I checked all the bills for last 3 months and all my direct debit has gone through. For the November bill their is charge
of 15 pound for late payment. This is very odd because i have a direct debit so late payment is not possible.
Spoke with virgin again and asked about this and they told me i have not missed any payment and they will look
into this and was told to send a email to credit department about this. Fingers crossed
