Cost of living 2024 payment eligibility

Hi, searched the forum but can't find a similar date scenario as ours as our assessment period and subsequent payment date bridge either side of the eligibility dates and not sure if it's the assessment period or payment date that's key.

Key qualifying dates to get the new payment
To get the £299, you need to have been paid (or have been eligible for a payment of) one of the benefits listed above or below for any day between 13 November 2023 and 12 December 2023.

Our UC account shows:

So would we be eligible for once or as normal miss it by a few days (mostly get nil UC payments but had a few low ones and still missed out by days)

Thanks
Ste

That assessment period is not your qualifying period because it ends on 15th December, which is outside the of the qualifying period. Your assessment period must end within the qualifying period.

For you it will be assessment period 16th Oct to 15th November. If you were entitled to a payment of UC for this period then you'll be entitled to the payment. If not then you won't be entitled.
  • Thanks,
Thought that would be the case but couldn't get my head around the qualifying period vs assessment date, were it spans across.
The previous month was a nil award so sadly we won't be eligible again

    Thanks for the clarification

So to jump in Assessment  period 24 Oct to 23 Nov (paid 24 Nov) and then again 24 Nov - 23 Dec (paid 24 Nov) both had payments - is that within the qualifying period.

Yes, because it ended between the 13th Nov and 12th Dec.

As an add on, it wouldn't be paid the day after assessment period ends, it's 7 days except if weekends or bank holidays bring it forward.

It's got nothing to do with when the payment date was. It's when the assessment period ends you need to look at.

Sorry wrong dates assessment periods are 18 Oct - 17 Nov and 18 Nov - 17 Dec.  So yes payment is due 24th, & days after the assessment period.  First payment was reduced due to wages owed but there was still a payment.
