Makes a lot of sense and can be done quite cheaply ( no need for the big wedding ceremony) ....the statutory fees for giving notice are £35 each and a basic marriage/CP ( in an office with no guests, just witnesses) is £461

Yes, been looking into it. We would do it without any fanfare at all. Probably wouldn't tell anyone until afterwards (if at all!).TonyMMM said:Makes a lot of sense and can be done quite cheaply ( no need for the big wedding ceremony) ....the statutory fees for giving notice are £35 each and a basic marriage/CP ( in an office with no guests, just witnesses) is £460 -
Just get married please! My relationship broke down after 30 years and my ex turned into someone I didnt recognise. never thought it could happen to me but it took 3 years and a lot of trauma to sort out our assets. I know you posted about IHT but one can get married so cheaply and in a system designed to protect marriage and also to help divide assets if the marriage ends one would be so well advised to do it.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1
