My Intentional Journey to Debt Freedom

Welcome @FacelessNumber. Great so see you - I hope you keep popping in. My diary is in its infancy and I’ve been massively inspired by some of the amazing diaries on here. The small actions approach is a work in progress but I have finally recognised that (in weight loss as well as paying off debt) the grand gestures are not sustainable unless I have the mindset and commitment to keep going. I have lost count of how many times I have lost a stone in a month or paid off a credit card yet here I am - overweight and in debt. It’s hard to see a small thing I do today having an impact on two years time but that’s the reality. And part of doing this is re- committing every day (if possible) on this diary.Lovely to see you @jwil. I feel disproportionally pleased with myself to have avoided the coffee and treats that normally accompany me on work trips (despite never being invited 🤣🤣). I think there’s a bit of “poor me” for being away and I “deserve” a treat. This time was a bit easier as I stayed with my cousin so I had company but usually on my lonesome in a hotel. And the peanut butter sandwich worked a treat with the early journey on Tuesday 👏👏.L x7

You should be pleased with yourself! Can you take something with you when you go to a hotel? Something that is a little treat from home?"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

Anything with peanut butter is a success for me @foxgloves. But an especially pleasing success when it saves me money. I have two opportunities to try it out next week as well. Thanks for popping by.L x4

Hello everyone
Not too bad a week:
- Stuck to our food budget
- Personal spends are a good thing- it is definitely making us think about what we spend. We had lunch in a little cafe today - it was lovely and infinitely better than my solo early morning motorway coffees.Small gains but progress so I am happy with that.L x8 -
This is really good progress LTMA - the mindshift is what drives everything forwards, continuing with that mindshift for long enough for the small things to become habit is when things really start to change, so keep going!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks so much @EssexHebridean. And I’d like to thank you for pushing me a bit on the 0% cc for balance transfer. I went through via MSE and have been accepted for the top offer. No idea how much the limit will be yet but you were completely correct in advising that some of it transferring is better than none.I am determined to post every day even if I don’t have much to say.I have been filling the identified pots this morning. We have money coming in on different dates so around now is when it’s all in. I have managed to put the full monthly amount in all pots which I’m very pleased with.L x
PS Do you have a diary EH? I had a quick look but couldn’t see one (although I may not have been looking very hard)5 -
