🤣🤣. I’m never sure @Cheery_Daff. I like the feel of the expensive stuff but whether my skin is better????I am relatively wrinkle free in my mid- fifties but I suspect that is more to do with the extra padding under the skin rather than anything I put on top of it!!!!I think I need to remind myself how much money I am putting in the pockets of already very rich corporations.
I also feel that if I can move forward with the healthier eating (lots of weight to lose) that will also benefit my skin. Making slow but steady progress there as well.L x4 -
I use a 'magic' flannel for my face that my friend who worked in theatrical make-up recommended, about a tenner give or take on amazon and you get lots of use from it as you're only using the next small patch you actually use to clean each time, then it can be popped in the washing machine. Saves a lot on cotton wool and face wipes, and more environmentally friendly!
Also, apparently the Aldi and Lidl 'dupes' are very good so worth checking out for all skincare stuff, I will be soon once I've got through the supplies I already have in2 -
I love my beauty products and have a monthly beauty box subscription with L00k Fantastic at £13.25 a month. Always plenty of great stuff in the boxes and definitely worth a lot more than £13.25.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Thanks @PennysIntoPounds. I too have stock to work though - my SIL uses Li*l so I will consult her. I tried some reusable pads like cotton wool pads and I really wanted them to work - but I hated them. And my skin hated them. I’ll investigate on Amazon. I’m open to any suggestions. It’s so bizarre the paying out of personal spends feels totally different than just buying out of the joint account. Same money, different mindset.L x3

I’ve tried the reusable pads and was disappointed to find they dragged on my skin.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Totally agree @Sun_Addict. I do use the Liz E hot cloth cleanser and that takes away some of the cotton wool pad usage. I have enough of that to last a good few months!! I really wanted to like the re-usable face pads. There may be better ones out there but of course you pay a higher price to try them which is great if they work. Not so much if they don’t ☹️.L x2

I'm no good with beauty stuff as I just buy whatever's cheapest. But I do occasionally put better stuff on my wishlist for birthday/Christmas gifts for a treat.
Could you reduce the quantity you use at all? Make sure you are not using too much on a day to day basis, so that it will last longer. Also, maybe alternate with a cheaper version every other day so that you still get to use it but it lasts twice as long?"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I am so so pleased with this. We will now focus on Mr L's card which is a much lower balance and we can clear in the next three months or so - not worth doing a transfer and paying the fee on that one.
However, our new mortgage payment (higher interest rate) is now paying off less of the capital each month than previously due to the rate increase each month so my first action from next month is to overpay by at least that amount and then re-organise a bit and go from there. Once Mr L's card is paid off we will set up higher overpayments for the mortgage and also have a look on the loan (very low interest rate - less than the mortgage- but would still like to get rid of that early. It has a couple of years to go).
I was going to suggest that you don't overpay the mortgage until after the debts are cleared. I listen to the Dave Ramsay podcast and one thing they always come back to is how much is about behaviour/ progress not math. So from a math perspective it may make sense to overpay the mortgage now, rather than clear an interest free CC. However from a behaviour perspective you're more likely to stay motivated if you see progress - achieved by focusing all your efforts in one place at a time. Plus you'll want to get debt-busting done and onto paying off the mortgage so will keep you more on track!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)2
